Cinema Saturday

Cinema Saturday on a Saturday? With more than three movies?

Yup, as you can tell Big Brother is over and we have time for a movie a night. We are making up some serious ground.

  • We had our first argument over a score, and it was going back in history. I think he judged The Gods Must Be Crazy II too harshly. It quickly spun out of control and we were preemptively hurling 1s and 2s at each other’s favorite movies. Nasty.
  • All the scores are looking the same. I figured we’d have a wider range of scores. But we’ve allowed ourselves to veto movies based on mood. I’m pretty sure there are some stinkers tucked in there, but this batch was pretty much just good movie watching.
  • How did we get some of these random movies? Yeah…. when we were in Washington & Abilene we had a little movie buying habit. We could walk into Blockbuster or Hollywood video and buy 5 movies for $20 or rent 2 movies for $20. So we ended up with a strange collection.

Cinema Sat 4

No movie highlight this week, just so many connections that I wondered could I play the Degrees of Kevin Bacon with each of these movies.

Jack Black is the lead in School of Rock and also a voice actor in Ice Age. Greg Kinnear was in Ghost town as well and Kinnear was in the remake of Sabrina with Harrsion Ford who was in the Fugitive with Tommy Lee Jones, in his greatest role, who was also in Lonesome Dove with Robert Duvall who was in Newsies with Christian Bale who was also in The Prestige with Michael Cane and I’m not sure how but I’m pretty sure I can connect Cane with the Magnificent Seven cause the entire world was in Magnificent Seven. Whew.

But Kevin Bacon time!Bacon

  • Magnificent Seven = 1 with Eli Wallach
  • Newsies= 1 with Robert Duval
  • The Prestige= 1 with Hugh Jackman
  • Ghost Town = 2 with both Ricky Gervais
  • School of Rock = 2 with Jack Black, Joan Cusak, AND Miranda Cosgrove? Ha!
  • Ice Age = 2 with just about everyone
  • Jurassic Park = 4 with Sam Neal

Well that was fun. Sorta.
